Fans of Wednesday may now finally exhale in comfort as Netflix has announced that the popular fantasy drama will return for a second season. Jenna Ortega (Scream) plays the gothic lovable loser Wednesday Addams in the show, which set streaming service ratings records. This led many to believe that a sequel was a sure thing. Although it was rumoured that the show was produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), the venerable Hollywood studio recently acquired by rival Amazon, it took Netflix a while to confirm as much.
Now that Netflix has officially said that a second season is coming and the programme will remain where it is for the time being, rumours that it could be acquired by Prime Video have been dispelled. Our beloved disgruntled kid makes mention to the now-iconic dance’s viral success in the announcement video, thanking supporters for the “pure pain” of being “mimicked millions of times over the internet.”
Wednesday Season 2 Expected Release Date
Although Netflix hasn’t said when Wednesday season 2 will be ready to stream, we can make an calculated guess based on how quickly the first episodes were produced.
It makes sense that the Tim Burton project’s sequel will follow a similar timetable since filming lasted six months, commencing in September 2021 and ending in March 2022.
We anticipate Wednesday season 2 to debut in early 2024, with filming most likely taking place later this year and a sizable portion of post-production needed to improve the show’s visual effects.
Wednesday Season 2 Cast & Plot
After the Nevermore Academy academic year had ended in the season finale from the prior year, Wednesday returned home. With Wednesday rejoining with her pals, including Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday), Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White), and of course, her trusty roommate Enid Sinclair, we see the second season begin around the start of the upcoming school year (Emma Myers).
The Addams Family will likely continue to appear on the programme, but their influence will likely be much less noticeable—especially since that Wednesday no longer requires her family’s persuasion to stay at Nevermore Academy. She has, after all, become accustomed to her new residence away from home and has grown interested in the mysteries that are roiling the academy and the nearby town of Jericho.
Since the first season closed with the introduction of a stalker who has been snapping photos of Wednesday throughout the first season, we are confident that Wednesday will encounter more mystery in the upcoming season. The first half of Wednesday Season 2 will likely centre on this mystery, with a more sinister development for the second half.
We’re currently unable to offer any other information regarding Wednesday Season 2’s storyline, specifics, or cast members, but we’ll update this item as soon as we learn more.
