FIH Hockey World Cup 2023: Schedule, Ticket Price & More

FIH Hockey World Cup 2023 ticket booking has begun, 16 nations are all set to compete against one another for the upcoming World Cup that will take place from 13 January 2022 to 29 January 2023 in India. For the second consecutive year, India will host the Men’s Hockey World Cup.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik received the first World Cup ticket from Hockey India (HI) president Dilip Tirkey in Bhubaneswar, marking the 50-day countdown to the match.

This year’s FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup will be the 15th edition of this tournament, which starts on January 13 and ends on January 29. As Pakistan failed to qualify for the World Cup, they will not play in the tournament. Pakistan is the four-time Men’s Hockey World Cup champion.

Venues for the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023

It will be Odisha’s turn to host the Men’s Hockey World Cup this year, in which 16 teams will compete in four pools. A pool consists of four teams.

It is the second time the tournament will be hosted in the state, and Rourkela will join Bhubaneswar as the second venue. At the last edition of the Hockey World Cup in 2018, all matches were played at the Kalinga stadium in Bhubaneswar.

As part of a joint hosting agreement, Kalinga Stadium (Bhubaneshwar) and the newly built Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela will co-host the world cup. In honor of legendary freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the hockey stadium has been named. The stadium covers an area of 15 acres, making it the largest in the world for hockey. With 20,000 seats, it can accommodate a large crowd.

This stadium will host 20 of the 44 Hockey World Cup matches, while the remaining matches, including the final, will be played at Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium.

Pools for the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023

Each pool has four teams. The 16 teams have been divided into four pools. In each pool, the winning teams will have a huge advantage as they will qualify straight into the quarterfinals.
Four teams will qualify for the quarterfinals following the cross-over round between the second and third-placed teams in each pool.

Further, you can get offline tickets for the matches at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar and Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela. Tickets are already on sale and will be sold between 11 am and 7 pm, according to reports.
